About the MCHS Library
History
The MCHS library was built in 2012, as part of the construction of the school's LEED Silver Award-winning building. Featuring 815 square feet of glass walls, it offers panoramic views of the LASC campus quad below and planes from around the world on their landing approach to LAX. With a growing collection of 2,000 physical books and 2,500 ebooks, students and teachers are quickly able to find texts to pique their interests.
Seating is available for 38, providing room for class visits and lesson co-taught by the Teacher Librarian and Subject Teacher. One corner of the library provides opportunities for school members to gather in learning communities dedicated to makerspace activities and chess.
Hours
Monday - Thursday: 8 AM to 4:08 PM
Friday (PD Days): 8 AM to 2:38 PM

Policies
Book checkouts are for 2 weeks (14 days). Checkouts can be renewed twice, for a total of six weeks.
If you want a book that is checked out, use the library catalog program, Destiny, to place a hold on it. A hold prevents the book’s checkout time from being extended.
Fines for late books are $0.10 per day, up to $30.00. Fines will be assessed if there is a hold on the book and it has not been returned, or if the 2 renewals are exhausted and the book has not been returned. See the librarian if you want to “read away” your fines with reading time spent in the library.
Lost books will be charged to the student at the cost to replace it.
Damaged books will be charged to the student at the cost to repair it, if possible, or to replace it, if it is not possible.
